Unit 1 Projects:

This face was my first project, I struggled with the scoring and slipping in the beginning, but eventually figured it out, overall I am content with this project due to it being my first time molding clay.

Unit 2 Projects:

This stamp was a pretty quick and easy project, but I do really like it, it's very basic, but does it's job and looks alright, especially for being made early on in my ceramics career.

This pendant is not my favorite project, I feel as though I could have done much better, but I was lacking in ideas.

I liked the way this pinch pot turned out, but I should have made more of an effort to create something with a more specific use, whereas this bowl is kind of just a bowl.

The double pinch pots were a project in which I struggled a lot, it took me a fair amount of time to figure out how I could connect the pinch pots and leave a hole at the top without it collapsing on itself.

I beleive that this peice was not my best, although it was cute, I think I should have put more effort and time into this, whereas I instead rushed it and ended with a result in which I was not pround of.

This was the first project i glazed, and although it's basic I really like this one, it's simplistic but nice at the same time

I talked to you about not having the picture for this, and you said that that was alright this one time ( this was a while ago)

This is my historical piece, it is a take on the Easter Island heads, Historically these were carved to celebrate important ancestors and were made from around 1000 C.E. until the second half of the seventeenth century.

Unit 3 Projects:

This was my coil pot, I only have a photo of it in this stage, although I did glaze it, but it was knocked off of a shelf and destroyed. I Liked this piece a lot and it was very fun to make, But I think I could have made it easier on myself if I had smoothed out the inside before stacking the coils.

This was my mug I made with the darted slab structure, As of now it is still In class and I need to take a photo of it post glazing.

IMG_3116

This is my sgraffito art, It was a quick project, but I do like the way it turned out, if I was to redo a project from this unit I think I would choose this one, because It was a kind of low effort project that I could definitely do better on now.

This Is one of my three bowls that I threw, I didn't fire any of them but they were very fun to make, and I would like to continue throwing and learn how to make more consistent pieces.

CLIENTS

Final Piece Semester 1

Research:

Shortridge was Born in Iowa, 1951, and raised in Southern California, he had a successful acting career, but Shortridge always felt that art was his true passion. In 1985, he decided to fully commit to painting, although he had only taken one formal art class, he was naturally creative and skilled. While Shortridge enjoyed acting, he found painting far more creatively fulfilling. he thought that acting involved too much collaborative work,  whereas in painting, he had complete control from start to finish Shortridge is deeply influenced by Romantic Impressionism,  because he believed that it expressed life in bold, vibrant colors.

Reflection:

This piece is one that I wish I had spent more time on earlier on, It didn't turn out the way I wanted/ expected, partially because I switched projects multiple times, but also due to the lack of time and effort I put in. I believe that the piece I chose to recreate was very beautiful, and I could have kept it as so if I had spent the time on it that It deserved.

Construction/ Intrest

Intimacy By: Steven Shortridge

This piece in specific popped out at me because if it's texture and beutiful coloring, I liked how it looked simple and complex at the same time. During my construction of this peice, I smoothed out the shape of the swans, and molded together the frame, I wish that after this I had gone back over and added the texture seen in the painting, but I didn't. if I were to do this again I would be more careful with the coloring of the swans, and also if I had had enough time I would have made a base for them to sit on.
